At just over 5700 miles it finally happened.
But it’s been about 18 months which is pretty respectable for an Alfa all things considered...

Limp mode, mode selector disabled, engine very rough, and the infotainment went out for about 60 seconds while driving to the dealer.

Aww it's all grown up!

Total bummer. Hope they get it back to you soon!

It’s stuff like this that makes me think I should just give up and get a 911.

Did you attempt the “Italian Tune-Up” before taking it in? At 5,700 miles in 1.5 years it’s probably begging for some proper sends by now.

If by 911 you mean a C8 Corvette , yes

I haven’t given up that much...

I drive it pretty hard, but no I was worried about the motor and in any event it was in limp mode - would not rev above around 3500RPM or change modes.

Ah that’s pretty gnarly. I hope it’s an easy fix at the dealer.

Hmm maybe a rat gnawed on something? Doesn’t sound like it gets driven too often.

I swap it with the Cayenne every couple of weeks and drive it at least a week at a time. It’s been 2 weeks in a parking garage so maybe? But these are known for this issue.

Silly, that’s just the Check Oppo light. Your engine is probably still there so it’ll be fine. Better get on Kinja instead.

Good luck finding one anywhere near MSRP. You could buy a brand new 992 C2 for what some people are asking for the C8.
I would seriously consider one for MSRP though.

And why anyone would pay more than MSRP for one is mind boggling. Selling it in 10 years for less than $25k is gonna be even more painful for them.

Agreed. Some people just have to be the first. But at the end of the day, this is going to be a mass produced item with markedly better variants and future models down the road.
I find myself chuckling a little when I see hugely discounted used hellcats and I remember how crazy those markups were.

Monday update from dealer: not sure what’s wrong, we tried updating the software and that didn’t work. I mean, did they try turning if off and back on again too?
